Agyeman Manu Tests Positive for COVID-19: Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu is said to be recuperating at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) after testing positive for the coronavirus disease.

Sources tell Joy News the Dormaa Central MP has been receiving treatment at the hospital for some time now.

The 64-year-old Minister who is said to be in a stable condition and not in the ICU was reportedly admitted on Tuesday.

According to the Health Ministry, he has taken some days off and has since not been seen at work.

Mr. Agyeman Manu is the latest government official to test positive for Covid-19 after the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Papa Owusu Ankomah was taken into an ICU on April 10, in the UK.

The Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Anthony Kobina Kurentsi Sam has died, a few weeks after his personal driver tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the presiding member of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly Kwesi Buckman, he had been receiving treatment in Accra in an undisclosed health facility when he passed away.

Last month, the Health Minister at one of the routine press conferences to update the nation on government’s activities in fighting the virus, the Minister urged Ghanaians to learn to live with the coronavirus because it has come to stay.

He reiterated the need for strict adherence to the World Health Organisation (WHO) protocols because that is the means of survival.

“The last time I came here, I made some factual statement that coronavirus has come to live with us. It will have nowhere to go and we’ll have to learn to live with it.

“There is no medication that we can take, there is no vaccine against the virus but there are certain things we know we can do to protect ourselves,” he told journalists at a press conference in Accra.

According to the Minister, observing preventive protocols such as wearing of face masks, hand washing, observing social distancing, and frequently sanitizing hands are ways controlling the virus.

“If you don’t need to talk don’t talk especially without the mask. We have been told that we shouldn’t laugh, we shouldn’t even sing. If we don’t observe these basic guidelines, things will continue to spread,” he said.

Ghana is said to be among countries doing well with its management of Covid-19 cases.

There have been fewer deaths recorded in the country although cases keep increasing daily.
